Apple Pie Crumble

Everything’s better with pie – even apple crumble! That’s why we put a twist on everyone’s oat-topped favourite this holiday. With a rich, organic granola topping (and crust!), seasonal spices, and fresh apples, this is a must-have at any holiday feast.

Apple Pie Crumble Recipe

Prep time: 20 Minutes
Cook time: 35 Minutes
Servings: Serves 8

Ingredients

Granola Crust:

  • 2 cups Nature’s Path Pumpkin Seed + Flax Granola
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Apple Filling:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced (about 6 cups)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 4 tsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup Nature’s Path Pumpkin Seed + Flax Granola
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

Crust
  1. Add granola to food processor and pulse until finely ground.
  2. Stir in brown sugar and melted butter until combined.
  3. Press into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan.
  4. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet set over medium heat.
  3. Add apples, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, cinnamon and allspice.
  4. Cook, stirring often, for 10 to 12 minutes or until soft and tender.
  5. Sprinkle with cornstarch and continue cooking for 1 to 2 minutes or until filling is thickened.
  6. Spoon into pie crust; smooth top.
  7. Toss granola with melted butter.
  8. Sprinkle granola evenly over filling.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until topping is golden brown and filling is hot.
  10. Cool completely before serving.
