Que Pasa Chickpea Burgers & Onion Rings Recipe
  • Cook Time: 40-45 Minutes
  • Serving Size: 1 Burger

Did someone order up a burger with a side of onion rings? Save this vegan recipe for your next cook out cause it’s a winner. I used Que Pasa Organic Tortilla Chips in these vegan chickpea burgers and also as a coating for the onion rings. I can’t tell you how good they are, so you’ll have to make them!

  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1/2 yellow onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chickpea flour
  • 1/2 cup Que Pasa Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup vegan feta
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Cracked pepper

  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced 1/4”thick
  • 1/2 cup soy milk
  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 cup Que Pasa Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and chili flakes over medium heat. Add onion and cook until translucent. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Scrape onion mixture into bowl of a food processor.  Add in remaining ingredients and pulse to combine.
  3. Use a 1/2 cup measuring spoon to measure out patties and form with your hands.  Place on a parchment lined baking tray and place in the fridge for 30 minutes or over night.
  4. When ready to eat, preheat oven to 450.  Heat remaining oil in a large saute pan and cook for about 4 minutes per side. Place burgers in the oven to bake for approximately 15 minutes until fully cooked through.

  1. Preheat oven to 450d.  Mix together the soy milk and chickpea flour to create a batter.  Place tortilla chips in a small food processor and process until only small pieces remain. In a bowl add corn chips and spices stirring to combine.
  2. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Use a fork to dip the onion into the batter, shaking off any access.  Place into the dry mix and coat evenly.  Place onto the baking tray and continue until all the onions are finished.
  4. Bake in the oven for 25- 30 minutes turning half way.
  5. Top chickpea burgers with crunchy onion rings!
