VANCOUVER, BC (October 23, 2024) – Nature’s Path Organic Foods of Vancouver, BC, is recalling eleven frozen waffle varieties, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. To date, there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the recalled products.
Product was distributed in both the USA and Canada through retail stores. This voluntary recall is based on a notice from TreeHouse Foods, an external partner that produces products for Nature’s Path Organic Foods, regarding the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
This issue impacts eleven Waffle SKUS with the following UPCs and best by dates of October 1, 2024, through October 11, 2025:
United States
Canada
The impacted products are sold in the freezer aisle, packaged in 7 oz (2 waffles (70g) servings) boxes, and lot codes can be found on the top flap of each box.
The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by TreeHouse Foods, which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. The company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as the FDA and TreeHouse Foods continue their investigation as to what caused the problem.
While no illness has been reported to date, these specific batches are being voluntarily recalled out of an abundance of caution. No other products or lots within the U.S. and Canada are impacted by this voluntary recall. Consumers requesting a refund for the affected product should return the product to their retailer. Customers can contact Nature’s Path at +1 (866) 880-7284. Press can contact 619.985.9519.
