2 pieces of toast
Vegan
Ingredients
Sweet Tic-Tac-Toe Toast
- 1 slice of whole grain bread (larger slices are easier to work with)
- 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
- Envirokidz Koala Crisp cereal
- 1 Banana, cut into rounds
- Strawberries, cut into rounds
Savory Tic-Tac-Toe Toast
- 1 slice of whole grain bread (larger slices are easier to work with)
- 2 tbsp hummus
- 1 carrot, peeled
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 cucumber, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare fruits and vegetables to make your tic-tac-toe board and X’s and O’s. Sweet: Use a straw to cut out the centers of your strawberry rounds. These will be your O’s. Use an “X shaped” cookie cutter to cut X’s out of your banana rounds. Savory: Use a vegetable peeler to slice the carrot lengthwise to create thin slices of carrot. Slice the peelings lengthwise to create long, thin lines. Trim them to fit the size of the bread you’re using. You’ll only need 4 pieces to create one tic-tac-toe toast. Use an “O shaped” cookie cutter to cut O’s out of your cucumber slices. Alternatively, use mini cucumbers and use a straw to cut out the seeded centers to make O’s. Cut off the sides of a red bell pepper. Try to slice the pepper in such a way that each piece is as flat as possible. Cut away any of the white pit. Use an X-shaped cookie cutter to cut X’s out of the red bell pepper.
- Toast whole grain bread.
- Spread with 2 tbsp natural peanut butter (for a sweet version) or 2 tbsp hummus (for a savory version).
- Assemble your Tic-Tac-Toe board. Sweet: Arrange Envirokidz Koala Crisp on peanut butter to create 9 boxes in a 3x3 layout. Savory: Lay carrot strips on hummus to create 9 boxes in a 3x3 layout.
- Time to play and eat!
